What is Scalp MicroPigmentation (SMP)

Scalp Micropigmentation is essentially a hair tattoo that mimics a hair follicle, giving the appearance of a full head of hair. Using hair-color pigment, a needle is used to inject the pigment into the areas of the head affected by hair loss. Unlike other hair restoration methods, scalp micro pigmentation is non-invasive, quick, and shows immediate results.

How many treatments should I expect?

Scalp micropigmentation should never be considered a one treatment process. Most clients can expect between 2-4 sessions to complete their treatment depending on the extent of hair loss or scarring. At Kani Gordon Hair Group we have back to back weeks on the same day of the week. So when you book your first session expect to return the following week for up to two weeks after.

Does Scalp Micro Pigmenentation (SMP) hurt?

Most people who undergo Scalp Micro Pigmentation report minimal pain. While the needles are fairly large and scary looking, hair tattoos are less painful than traditional tattoos. And unlike some other hair restoration procedures, patients won’t feel pain after scalp Micro Pigmentation. Some soreness is to be expected, but the pain of this procedure is very little. In the event that you do feel pain will provide an anesthetic 30 minutes before your arrival time.
Before your session we offer an anesthetic  but we first make sure you have no form of allergies.

How long does SMP results last?

After completion of your treatment (2-4 sessions) a client should expect the strength of the color to last for many years. Over a longer term, a client will very gradually begin to notice slight lightening (not discolor) of the treatment. When this occurs we recommend our SMP refresher session to restore any fading and secure many more years of their style. We recommend an SMP refresher once a year.

Scalp Micropigmentation is not just a traditional tattoo. Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a form of permanent cosmetics, but unlike tattooing or permanent makeup, the treatment replicates the look of short cut hair by using pointillism techniques. Scalp Micropigmentation utilizes different equipment than traditional tattooing, ensuring the needle and machine are designed specifically for micropigmentation of the scalp.
